-Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibas, Makes Surprise Appearance
–Defected Delta Governor, Oborevwori, Attends NEC Meeting with Key State Leaders
Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid surprise appearances that stirred fresh political conversations.
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Eke Ibas, whose appointment has drawn widespread criticism, was spotted at the meeting, in what many see as a bold political statement amid the ongoing emergency rule in Rivers State.
Also present is Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) — a move that has generated reactions across the political spectrum.
Governors from several states also joined the high-level economic meeting. They include:
-
Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue
-
Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara
-
Monday Okpebholo of Edo
-
Bassey Otu of Cross River
In addition to the governors, a number of deputy governors were present, indicating the weight and urgency of the issues on the agenda.
The National Economic Council, usually chaired by the Vice President, meets regularly to deliberate on key national economic matters, offering policy direction and collaborative insight on development across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Details from the ongoing meeting are still unfolding.
