Babatunji Wusu –
President Bola Tinubu has approved the “Pulaaku Initiative,” according to Vice President Kashim Shettima.
A nonviolent strategy to combat insurgency and banditry in the North is represented by Pulaaku.
Shettima went on to say that Tinubu had set aside an initial N50 billion to fund this project.
Shettima underlined that the federal government is committed to combating national insecurity.
These statements were given by Shettima in his welcome address during the two-day Roundtable on Insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
The event, with the topic “Multi-Dimensional Approach to Tackling Insecurity in Northern Nigeria,” was organized by the Coalition of Northern Groups.
Former Borno Governor Ibrahim Hadeija, acting on behalf of his Chief of Staff, stated that the approved plan would start in five Northern states: Niger, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Katsina. He made it clear that the initiative’s goal is to “catalyze” the Northern region’s economic growth.
The government views the requirements of each region as vital, and every part of the nation is treated equally with the others.
In order to address the underlying roots of the problems, we are also starting a revolutionary journey for the North.
“The president has approved the Pulaaku Initiative, a non-kinetic approach, with an initial N50 billion allocation.
“The goal of this project is to improve livelihoods and living conditions in a number of states, starting with Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Benue, Zamfara, Niger, and Kaduna.
“The building of homes, roads, schools, and other necessary facilities is about to start, promising to turn this region’s fortunes around,” he stated.
