Vice President Kashim Shettima has detoured and returned to Nigeria, cancelling his scheduled trip to the United States to attend the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas.
In a statement issued on Monday, Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will now represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the summit in Dallas, Texas.
The presidential aide revealed that Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was originally slated to represent the President, was unable to make the journey “due to a technical fault with his aircraft, forcing him to detour on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet.”
He also stated that the Vice President will continue with other national responsibilities.
