Vice President, Kashim Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and self-employment during his address at the 24th combined convocation ceremony of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID). As he received an honorary doctorate degree, Shettima encouraged the graduates to break away from the traditional reliance on governmental job opportunities.

In his speech, Shettima acknowledged that the era of depending solely on the government for employment and solutions to personal challenges had come to an end. He urged the graduates to leverage their entrepreneurial training acquired at the university to establish their own businesses and make a positive impact on society.

Furthermore, Shettima praised UNIMAID for adequately equipping its students to offer innovative solutions to the nation’s numerous problems. He highlighted that success in life inevitably presents challenges, and as the graduates step into the professional world, they are well-positioned to contribute to resolving these issues.

Quoting Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President emphasized that graduates should take advantage of their entrepreneurial skills and strive towards self-employability. He urged them to embark on entrepreneurial ventures, regardless of their capital or the size of their ideas. By embracing entrepreneurship, the graduates can shape their own destinies and become valuable contributors to society.
