A shocking case has emerged in Anambra State, where an 18-year-old apprentice allegedly impregnated 10 girls, including his master’s daughter and salesgirl, barely two months after returning to his village.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, made the disclosure on Tuesday in a video shared on social media, where she sought public counsel, saying the matter had overwhelmed her office.
According to Obinabo, the young man was originally sent to serve as an apprentice but had to be sent packing by his boss after getting both his daughter and salesgirl pregnant within three months of arriving.
“This boy was sent to learn trade at the age of 18, and three months into the apprenticeship, he impregnated his oga’s daughter and his salesgirl,” she said.
“He was sent packing. Two months after that, he returned to the village and impregnated eight other girls.”
The commissioner, clearly disturbed by the volume of cases linked to the teenager, said the boy’s mother reported the issue to her office.
“The mother said anytime she sees a girl walking towards her house, her heart skips. She’s asking for help. And I am too — this is beyond me.”
Obinabo asked the boy to explain how he was able to lure so many girls in such a short time. His response? “I tell them I love them and want to marry them when I become rich.”
She did not reveal the boy’s identity or the community involved, but stressed that the case has moral and possibly spiritual dimensions. She asked the public to weigh in with possible solutions.
“This matter is beyond me because of the boy’s age and the number of pregnant girls involved. That’s why I need help,” Obinabo said.
The situation has triggered outrage and concern across social media, with many calling for urgent intervention — both legal and psychological — to address the unfolding scandal and prevent further harm.
