The match took place under blistering heat, with Sinner visibly struggling, shaking and needing a medical timeout in the third set. Rune, too, sought treatment for a sore right knee. The drama intensified when Sinner broke the metal brace securing the net with a powerful serve early in the fourth set, causing a 20-minute delay to fix the net.

Despite his physical struggles, Sinner maintained focus. He served effectively in the opening set, breaking Rune’s serve to love. However, a double fault from Sinner allowed Rune to break and win the second set.
