Slot Rests Salah, Van Dijk and Key Stars as Liverpool Rotate for Carabao Cup Clash

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed Mohamed Salah and four other senior players will sit out Tuesday’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Southampton.

The Reds have stormed into the new season with five wins from five in the Premier League, but Slot has chosen to shuffle his squad to preserve energy for the challenges ahead.

“Virgil [van Dijk], Ibou [Ibrahima Konate], Mo [Salah], Ryan [Gravenberch] and Dom [Dominik Szoboszlai] have all played three full games,” the Dutchman told reporters. “I can tell you now you won’t be seeing them on Tuesday.”

Despite their absence, Salah and his teammates are expected to return when Liverpool travel to face Crystal Palace in the league at the weekend.
