Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced the ambitious healthcare initiative during the flag-off of the 2025 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention campaign in Achida, Wurno local government area. The rehabilitation of all primary healthcare centres reflects the administration’s commitment to bring essential medical services closer to the people, enhancing community health outcomes.
Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, the Governor emphasized the crucial role of community mobilization in ensuring every eligible child receives malaria prevention medication. To support this effort, government has equipped ‘Roll Back Malaria’ officers with motorcycles to ensure efficient coverage throughout the state’s local government areas.
Highlighting the state’s dedication to combating malaria, plans to upgrade the Malaria Elimination Agency’s referral centre signal Sokoto’s ambition to set high standards in disease control.
Traditional leaders, represented by Alhaji Alhassan Cigari, reaffirmed their support for health initiatives, recognizing their importance in preventing malaria among children. Health Commissioner Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno assured that robust measures have been instituted to guarantee the success of the campaign, underscoring the government’s proactive approach to public health challenges in Sokoto State.
