Lance Corporal Nkiru Okokwo, a female soldier, was detained in Yola, Adamawa State, on suspicion of killing Captain Bitrus Sini, a senior member of the unit.
On Monday, August 7, Nkiru reportedly sh*t and k#lled Sini while mistakenly enforcing a curfew set by the state government.
According to SaharaReporters, Nkiru insulted Sini for getting involved in a fight between her and bystanders at a Yola checkpoint.
Nkiru reportedly ordered all drivers heading home during the curfew to turn around, but they reportedly countered that they were employees on essential duties.
The soldier was described as resolute. A captain stepped up to take charge.
She unintentionally shot and killed him since she had already cocked her weapon, an eyewitness told newsmen. The army officer was reportedly brought to the Federal Medical Center in Yola, where his death was officially declared.
