If their demands are not granted by Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the Organised Labour has pledged to resume the statewide indefinite strike that has been suspended.
Recall that on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, workers granted the federal government a one-week grace period through the efforts of their unions, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
“The Federal Government and the National Assembly have the call now,” stated Chris Onyeka, Assistant General Secretary of the NLC, in a Monday, June 10, interview with Channels Television. We are not calling for it.
We want the administration to review and submit an Executive Bill to the National Assembly, and we want the National Assembly to consider our demands and the different aspects of the law before creating a National Minimum Act that satisfies them.
We have given the Federal Government a week to review the matter if that does not satisfy our desire, and that week ends tomorrow (Tuesday).
