On Tuesday, a Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja sentenced Jeremiah Kamara, a student, to two months in prison for causing a disturbance.

Nonetheless, the student was given the choice of a N5,000 fine by the judge, Mr. Ishaq Hassan, who also sternly advised him to stop committing crimes.

The student, who is from Sierra Leone, pleaded guilty and asked for forgiveness.

The student was detained and taken to the Asokoro Police Station on February 14 for roaming, according to the prosecutor, Mr. Olarewaju Osho, who testified in court.
Osho claims that a group of police officers, under the direction of Inspector Micah Ezekiel, spotted the student strolling about AYA in Asokoro at an odd hour.

He claimed that the pupil would be unable to provide a valid explanation for his or her straying during a police investigation.

The student couldn’t adequately describe himself, Osho continued.

He stated that Section 199 of the Criminal Code was violated by the offense.
