The Abia North Students Association has expressed gratitude to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents the Abia North Senatorial District, for supporting students from his district who wish to study medicine and surgery abroad.

In a letter of praise from their president, Idika Michael, the students also praised Kalu for his growth and promised to assist him in the future.

Dike Peace Amarachi and Onwuchekwa Michael Chukwuemeka, two students who were Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation recipients, traveled to South America on September 26, 2022, to study medicine and surgery for six years at the esteemed University of Latinoamerican Medicine School in Venezuela.

Six additional kids from the OUKF joined them at the school.

“I write on behalf of the Abia North Students Association-National to personally commend you for the opportunity offered to four Abia North students to study in South America at the Venezuela’s premier University, Latinoamerican Medical School, Escuela,” the commendation letter begins.

“Also, I want to particularly highlight your efforts in repositioning Abia North since you joined our Senate, particularly your efforts in the education sector which have gained our pupils numerous educational resources and assistance,” the speaker continued.

Your Excellency, during your public service career, particularly as our Senator, you brought to bear a high sense of dedication, selflessness, and honesty that have always been the guiding principles of a real public officer.

“While I am confident that your intelligence and zeal will help you succeed in your future undertakings, please know that students in your constituency will always support you as needed.

Once more, it gives us great pleasure to say how much we value your dedication to your people.

Sen. Kalu responded, saying, “Like other beneficiaries, the Foundation chose these two grantees based on merit. I hope they succeed and bring honor to themselves, their parents, our foundation, and our nation.

“I also give God thanks for our safe arrival and the start of classes at the school.”
