Babatunji Wusu –
There are preparations to start another round of distributing confiscated rice and other food goods to citizens by the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Ogun Command.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday at the command headquarters in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Area Controller Ben Oramalugo of Oyo/Osun Command made this statement.
Remember that NCS started giving away food goods that had been seized to Nigerians on the Federal Government’s instruction in an effort to lessen the country’s current suffering.
However, a terrible incident in Lagos resulted in numerous deaths during an attempt to force their way into the location, leading to the suspension of the rice sale.
Speaking about the latest food distribution plans, Oramalugo stated that the goal of the initiative is to lessen the suffering that Nigerians are going through as a result of the country’s exorbitant food costs and high cost of living.
In order to prevent a recurrence of the sad situation that occurred in Lagos a few weeks ago, he continued, the Service will start another round of distribution as soon as the Federal Government completes the exercise’s logistics.
He added that they are dedicated to making sure that the seized rice is distributed fairly and transparently, with eligible beneficiaries being carefully screened and verified before they receive the items. He said that the distribution of the seized items would go a long way in alleviating the hardship being faced by many families.
“Once the required procedures are established, the confiscated rice will be distributed,” he declared. The public will receive regular updates from us regarding the distribution’s status.
Meanwhile, we would like to warn everyone that smuggling is prohibited and that those who do so face harsh consequences.
“We implore everyone to back the government’s initiatives to combat smuggling and guarantee that only lawful goods are imported into the nation.”
