-Terrorists Kill 10 Vigilantes in Fresh Kwapre Attack
–District Head Laments Fifth Assault in Two Weeks
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have launched another bloody attack on Kwapre community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing 10 local vigilantes and leaving many others severely injured.
The gunmen, who reportedly stormed Kwapre in large numbers, overpowered the outnumbered and poorly armed vigilantes during the Saturday evening assault on April 26, 2025.
Speaking to DAILY POST on Sunday evening, Hyella Anthony, a former councillor of Garaha Ward, confirmed the heavy casualties.
“We lost 10 brave men, and others are fighting for their lives at FMC Hong,” Anthony said.
“These gunmen came in large numbers, heavily armed, and overpowered our vigilantes who were trying to protect the village.”
Anthony revealed that the injured were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Hong for urgent treatment.
The latest attack marks yet another wave of violence in Kwapre, a community that has faced repeated assaults by insurgents in recent months.
Expressing deep sorrow, the District Head of Dugwaba, Simon Yakubu, condemned the rising spate of attacks on villages surrounding Kwapre.
“This is the fifth assault on our villages within two weeks. Their weaponry and numbers are simply overwhelming for our people,” Yakubu lamented.
The district head urged the government and security agencies to swiftly intervene and reinforce security in the vulnerable communities, warning that without urgent action, more lives could be lost.
The attack underscores the deteriorating security situation in parts of Adamawa State, as residents continue to live under the constant threat of terrorist violence.
