Suspected cultists stormed the Ifite-Awka area, near Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Anambra State, on Thursday morning, killing at least six people. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers opened fire, targeting members of a rival cult group, causing widespread panic.
The gunmen, believed to be searching for their rivals near the university’s entrance, unleashed chaos around 9:30 a.m., shooting multiple victims near Witness Garden on Ifite Amansea Road.
The Anambra State Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are underway.
