Suspected fake lawyer granted bail after a Magistrate Court in Effurun, Delta State, approved bail for Collins Ehibor, who faces charges of impersonation and obtaining by false pretence. The court fixed July 14, 2026, for the next hearing.

Chief Magistrate Gregory Epete granted the 30-year-old defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with two sureties after he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The prosecution arraigned Ehibor on July 6, 2026, under Charge No. ME/89C/2026. Prosecutors accused him of impersonation, an offence punishable under Section 484 of the Criminal Code, and obtaining by false pretence under Section 419 of the Criminal Code.

During the proceedings, suspected fake lawyer granted bail became the major outcome after the defendant denied all allegations before the court. Consequently, the magistrate admitted him to bail and directed that the trial continue on July 14, 2026.

Meanwhile, the courtroom attracted significant public attention. Members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Effurun Branch, alongside other interested observers, attended the proceedings as the court considered the bail application.
