Babatunji Wusu –
Floodwaters have engulfed the Mayo Selbe Community in Taraba State’s Gashaka Local Government.
According to The Nigerian Tribune, the tragedy has carried away farm crops, animals, and property worth millions of Naira.
According to HRH. Kum, Thomas Maiyanga, Chief of Mayo Selbe, the calamity occurred after a downpour that lasted for more than seven hours.
The community’s needs for relief supplies to lessen the devastating impacts of the disaster were requested by the traditional ruler in an appeal to the federal and Taraba State governments.
“This is the first time this kind of natural calamity has affected my neighborhood. The traditional head of state pleaded with the federal and Taraba State governments to provide us with aid so that the disaster’s impacts may be lessened.
Taraba was one of the nine states that received a flood notice two months ago from both the state and federal governments.
