The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a 10-day preventive maintenance exercise at its Gombe 132/33kV Transmission Substation, scheduled to run from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the operation aims to enhance the reliability of power supply in the region by replacing aging protection and control panels on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8 with new ones.
The company emphasized that the maintenance work would not disrupt bulk electricity supply to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC). According to TCN, engineers have arranged alternative load transfers to ensure uninterrupted service — power from the Shongo feeder will be moved to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while the Mallam Sidi feeder load will be shifted to the Doma 33kV feeder 6.
“The exercise is part of TCN’s routine preventive maintenance designed to strengthen operational efficiency and sustain grid stability,” the statement added.
Residents and electricity consumers in the affected areas were advised to remain calm as no power outage is expected during the maintenance period.
