Temilade Openiyi, commonly known as Tems, a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, is preparing to release her debut album, ‘Born in the Wild’.
The ‘Damages’ singer revealed the highly awaited project in an Instagram post on Monday.
While uploading a video that appears to be an excerpt from the album’s graphics, she announced that the project will be published in May.
She did not, however, specify a release date for the project.
“Born in the wild. The Album. She wrote, “May 2024.”
The announcement came just hours after she teased one of the album’s songs at the 2024 Coachella.
Tems previously stated that the project is “100%” assured to be released in 2024.
Tems rose to international prominence in 2020 after collaborating with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence.’
She has subsequently established herself as a popular favourite in Nigeria’s music business, receiving numerous prizes and accolades.
In February, the singer received her first Grammy.
She won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ award for her role in Future’s 2022 hit song ‘Wait for U’, which features Drake.
Tems published the song ‘Me & U’ last year, which she created while “conversing with God”.
Tems also made history at the 2024 Billboard Women In Music Event, where she received the Breakthrough Award at this year’s ceremony.
Tems’ achievement is remarkable because she is the first Nigerian to obtain such honor.
The 2024 Billboard Women In Music Event was held on March 6, 2024, at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.
