Terrorists have stormed St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting students and staff in a fresh wave of violence. The school is still auditing its records, and the exact number of victims remains unclear.
A source who confirmed the attack on Friday said authorities were compiling details of those taken. “Yes, it is true, but I am not in a position to give details. The church will issue an official statement later in the day,” the source told Daily Trust. Efforts to reach the state police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered.
The abduction comes just days after terrorists invaded a government school in Kebbi State, where they kidnapped at least 25 students, raising renewed fears over escalating insecurity in the region.
