The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council begged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make public the total number of PVCs that Nigerians have so far collected with around three days to the general election.
Babatunde Fasola, minister of works and housing and director of election planning and monitoring for the APC presidential campaign council, urged the electoral umpire to provide a breakdown of the PVCs collected by registrants in each state and local government area of the nation during a press conference yesterday in Abuja.
He asserts that it is crucial for the legitimacy of the elections as well as the results.
We are ready, the former governor of Lagos declared. We employ trained personnel. As the election nears its conclusion, we believe it is crucial that INEC, the regulatory body, informs all the parties and the country of how many individuals actually got Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“I believe it to be crucial for both the validity of the results and the legitimacy of the elections. We know how many individuals registered, but we don’t know how many PVCs were collected, and that is a question that needs to be asked very carefully.
And I believe I speak for all the parties when I ask how many PVCs were gathered, how many were collected by state, local government, and every unit of electoral activity for which INEC can offer that data.
“We believe it is a crucial piece of information that will aid INEC in bolstering the validity of the exercise it is doing. Apart from that, we are occupied with planning and preparation, which is what we do best.
