At the “Gem Hunt” competition’s grand finale, winners were announced by the Bilaad Development Trust, a social investment platform established by the owners of Bilaad Realty.
They are Ngozi Okocha, Mohammed Rabiu Onuche, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Nafiu Ismail Olamide, and architect Mohammed Rabiu Onuche (sales representative).
Young Nigerians competed in the categories of architect, brand creative, engineer, and sales representative where their abilities to work both alone and together to create, design, promote, and pitch a new product given to them during registration were tested.
While those in engineering were challenged to propose creative engineering solutions that would solve financial, environmental, sustainability, and disaster management issues, participants were asked to build something that encourages others to think about luxury in novel ways.
Sadiq Suleiman Abdullahi, chief operating officer for Bilaad Realty and a member of the board of trustees, stated that Gem Hunt is an intervention under the entrepreneurship priority of BDT where winners were given various prizes, including internship and job opportunities, at the competition’s grand finale yesterday in Abuja.
In addition to the awards earned, Abdullahi revealed that some of the contestants and winners will be offered jobs right away, while others would be given recommendations for jobs.
Therefore, he urged young Nigerians to make the most of the opportunity and competition to contribute their fair share by offering workable solutions to the issues facing the housing industry.
The event’s chairman, Arch Usman Manko Babayitso, a member of the board of the Bilaad Development Trust, urged the victors to help create a Nigeria they could be proud of.
