In a new hearing over the club’s transfer activities, Italy’s soccer prosecutor has requested that Juventus be punished 11 points for the current Serie A season, according to two persons familiar with the situation on Monday.
The prosecutor made the motion after Italy’s top sports authority ordered soccer authorities to hold a new hearing and revoked a 15 point fine against the club set in January.
Juventus’ shares, which are traded on the Milan Stock Exchange, dropped as high as 4.9% following hearing of the potential punishment and were down 4.5% at 09:35 GMT.
The decision of the soccer court is anticipated later on Monday.
With three games remaining in the current campaign, including one on Monday night, Juventus sits second in Serie A with 69 points, trailing only Napoli, the league’s champion this year.
Juventus, the most successful soccer team in Italy, would be eliminated from the lucrative European competitions as a result of the deduction.
