Babatunji Wusu –

The Kano State Government started distributing agriculture inputs and painkillers to disadvantaged people, including women and farmers, across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas on Monday.

The process was started on Monday at the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA) headquarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to NAN, the supplies to be given out include 297 000 bags of 10 kg rice, 160 000 bags of 10 kg corn, fertilizer, 2, 500 pumping equipment, and other necessary farm inputs, as well as 2, 600 goats, lambs, and rams that will be given to women.

The program, according to Governor Yusuf, aims to lessen the current challenges brought on by the elimination of fuel subsidies throughout the nation.

In line with the state’s ambition of an agricultural revolution that would reduce the state’s reliance on federal funding, he explained that the gesture also aimed to increase agricultural production.

He said that the supplies were obtained through interventions being made in the state by the Federal Government, other donor partners, and palliative care organizations.
Yusuf insisted that the administration had created a suitable plan through the creation of numerous committees to ensure the distribution of the food supplies.

He issued a warning that any government employee found to be deficient during the distribution of the food products will face the appropriate punishment.

In order to make sure that the supplies reached the society’s most vulnerable segments, Gov. Yusuf stated that those with disabilities would receive special priority throughout the distribution.
“We are aware of the circumstance the general public is going through. As you can see, we didn’t just include palliatives; we also included agricultural inputs to help fight poverty, increase food production, and generate jobs.

We choose to provide women with goats, rams, and sheep in order to help them become independent through raising because of the important role they play in the development of our society. They will gain from this, maybe 2,600 of them.”
