Babatunji Wusu –

The Labour Party (LP) branch in Lagos State has voiced concerns with the recent ruling by the Supreme Court upholding Bola Tinubu’s legitimacy as the legitimately elected President of Nigeria.

The party expressed its disappointment with the court’s decision in a statement sent to the public on Tuesday by Dayo Ekong, its state chairman. The party further stated that the Supreme Court ought to be renowned for delivering justice without fear or favor.

Speaking to reporters during the party’s State Executive Council meeting, Ekong insisted that the recent events will not weaken the Labour Party.

She stated that the average man should always look to the judiciary for help, but this cannot be done in the absence of an independent judiciary.

The chairman of the Lagos Liberation Party stated that the party would make every effort to prevent a repeat of the 2023 election, even in light of the apex court’s decision to rule against the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The ruling from the nation’s highest court, which is one of the most important representations of democratic institutions tasked with enforcing the rule of law without fear or favor, has left the Labour Party of Lagos State extremely alarmed.

“The Labour Party is not discouraged; on the contrary, we are even more committed to making sure that this election cycle’s events never happen again.

We will never back down from our young people’s protests for a fairer and more equitable society that benefits everyone.

She declared, “It is time for us to take a seat and consider the future of our nation.”

The Tinubu government has caused hardship for Nigerians.
Speaking further, Ekong bemoaned the difficult economic circumstances that Nigerians are facing as a result of the current administration’s politics.

She directed the government to implement policies and programs that are accessible to the general public and to make sure that high-ranking officials likewise make sacrifices.

Concern should be expressed about a country where there is no safety net for citizens, multifaceted poverty is at an all-time high, and our so-called leaders continue to live in luxury.

“Those who choose to remain silent should keep in mind that the brunch will affect us all in some way. History will support the Labour Party’s stance of speaking out, Ekong declared.
