In order to improve their ability to effectively serve the country, the Ministry of Police Affairs has educated staff members in the directorate cadre in the use of information and communication technology (ICT), including applications like PowerPoint and Excel.
The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, spoke at an intensive training program for the directorate cadre on grade levels 15–17 at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. He explained that the ministry is using the training to expose directors to the availability of numerous tools in the PowerPoint that will enhance their presentation on monitoring and evaluation of projects, routine activities, and others. He added that the more they apply it, the more versatile they will be in using the ICT tools.
“I want to advise the directors, deputy directors, and assistant directors to prepare your PowerPoint yourself; don’t allow anyone else do it for you,” he said. The Head of the Service of the Federation will shortly implement the Performance Management System (PMS), which will only let you to employ your own abilities rather than those of others.
Everyone should, as a general rule, have a laptop, even if the government does not provide enough; instead, purchase your own device. It is comparable to meals for you at work.
In a related development, the permanent secretary stated that the ministry is prepared to assist the Nigeria Police Force and its medical department in order to achieve optimal service delivery and expressed hope that everything will come together once the ongoing police reforms are actualized.
He said, “Assuming that we cannot alter the status quo ante is the worst thing we can do as a nation. However, the best thing that can happen is not a journey to the ultimate designation, but rather the planning and laying the groundwork for that journey.” The President, the Ministry, and the Nigeria Police Force are all prepared, and all Nigerians agree that the NPF is gravely understaffed and neglected. This is the finest alignment I have seen in a long time, Nigeria would be a more pleasant place to live if NPF receives the best possible support.”
In a presentation to the ministry, the Force medical officer, CP Dr. Emmanuel Garba, mentioned that the Nigeria Police Medical Services operates 164 medical facilities nationwide.
