The Naira redesign policy has received approval from the Council of State. The council recommended that President Muhammadu Buhari direct the CBN to make fresh Naira notes available or to recycle the old notes in order to reduce anxiety brought on by a lack of cash during a meeting held in Abuja on Friday, February 10.

Former chiefs of state and presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar were present at the meeting, which was presided over by Buhari. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo joined the meeting electronically.

Alfa Belgore and Mahmud Muhammad, two former Chief Justices of the Federation, were also in attendance. Governors of Lagos, Taraba, and the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF Abubakar Malami, briefed State House reporters together after the meeting.
