Nine officers were fired by the Nigerian Correctional Service and 25 others were forced into retirement due to violations of accepted procedures.
Four others received letters of warning, according to Umar Abubakar, the service’s spokesman, who made the announcement on Sunday in Abuja.
Following approval by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board, the decisions were announced by the Controller-General of the Service, Haliru Nababa, according to what he said.
Mr. Nababa gave the public his word that the service would not stop trying to purge the undesirables from its workforce.
He issued a warning that laziness or indiscipline would not be tolerated in the service.
Additionally, Mr. Nababa reaffirmed that the service was prepared to commend authorities for their dedication and hard work.
“The Reward Fund Unit is completely operational, and soon, employees who do very well will be called to Abuja.
According to Mr. Abubakar’s comment from Mr. Nababa, “This will be for them to get prizes for their show of heroism and dedication to duty.”
He thanked the populace for its support and asked them to accept offenders who had completed their sentences and displayed sufficient remorse to halt recalcitrance.
