Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, recently explained why the first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from his refinery appears significantly clearer than the petrol currently available in the market. During a broadcast from the refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Dangote revealed that this clarity reflects the higher environmental standards of the new petrol.
He noted that the refined petrol is designed to be more eco-friendly, potentially reducing health risks associated with the pollutants commonly found in traditional petroleum products. Additionally, Dangote highlighted that this cleaner petrol offers benefits such as protecting vehicle engines from the damage typically caused by lower-quality fuels.
“This is the sample of the petrol,” Dangote said, pointing out the distinct color of the new petrol. “You see it as a different color, but that is the real deal. You are now going to have a good and genuine product.”
Regarding the diesel produced at the refinery, Dangote mentioned, “I am sure Nigerians have not seen this color of diesel before. This is Euro-5 diesel, containing less than 10 parts per million (PPM) of sulfur. This will help vehicles, engines, and generators last longer.”
He underscored the significance of these advancements for public health and environmental safety, asserting, “The health of the people and the environment will not be compromised. This is the real deal.”
