Babatunji Wusu –

In the appeal filed against Rivers State Governor Siminalyi Fubara’s election victory, the Supreme Court has deferred rendering a decision.

Following the adoption of the parties’ briefs of arguments on Monday, a five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun postponed making a decision on the appeal.

The appeal was submitted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the March 18, 2023 elections, Patrick Tonye-Cole.

Tonye-Cole had appealed Fubara, saying the Governor had not resigned as the state’s accountant general by the date set by the Electoral Act and the constitution before running for office in 2023.
