This Christmas, Funke Akindele’s most recent album, A Tribe Called Judah, will make its international debut.

Co-director Adeoluwa Owu, better known online as Captain Degzy, disclosed on Instagram that the feature film would be traveling to the UK, just for this holiday season.

A Tribe Called Judah will be released in UK theaters on December 29, 2023, by Independent Film Exhibition Consultancy (IFEC), following its December 15, 2023, cinematic premiere in Nigeria.

Recently, the movie became the first in Nollywood history to earn ₦113 million within its first weekend of release. It has made around ₦122.7 million in revenue overall.

A Tribe Called Judah has joined the ranks of Orisa, Merry Men, Kesari, and Something Like Gold as the highest-grossing film of 2023, according to the latest data made public by the Cinemas Exhibitors Association of Nigeria.

Although this is generally a positive development for Nollywood, the profit-sharing agreement between UK theater owners and producers will make it increasingly harder for films to break even and generate a profit. Up to 70% of ticket sales may go to British theaters.

Five brothers—Jide Kene Achufusi as Emeka Judah, Timini Egbuson as Pere Judah, Uzee Usman as Adamu Judah, Tobi Makinde as Shina Judah, and Olumide Oworu as Ejiro Judah—are featured in the holiday drama. They must band together to loot a firm in order to save their mother, Jedidah Judah, who is portrayed by Akindele.

Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, Genoveva Umeh, Faithia Williams, Nosa Rex, Greg Ojefua, Ibrahim Yekini, Boma Akpore, Paschaline Ijeoma Alex, Etinosa Idemudia, Juliana Olayode, and Yvonne Jegede are among the cast members, with Barny Emordu serving as the director of photography.
