Three Siblings Murdered in Anambra: Community Calls for Justice

A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, when unknown assailants killed three young siblings—a five-year-old boy and two girls, aged seven and nine. The attackers reportedly entered their home while the children were eating, murdered them, and placed their bodies inside a deep freezer in one of the rooms.

At the time of the incident, the children’s mother, Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, was away for an examination, and their father, Ejezie Udochukwu, was in Edo State for work. Upon her return, Chikazor noticed the house unusually wide open, and after searching for the children, their lifeless bodies were found inside the freezer.

Ejezie Udochukwu recounted the heartbreaking discovery, stating that when his wife returned home and could not find the children, she searched their usual spots, including the church where they served as altar boys and girls. The body of each child was later discovered in the deep freezer. The family lives in a bungalow shared with two tenants and their landlord, and the children had been eating when the attackers struck around noon. The police have been notified, and investigations are underway.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered a thorough investigation, with the case now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka.

The local community of Nnewichi has expressed shock and sorrow over the tragedy, with residents calling for justice for the murdered children. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the perpetrators of this horrific crime.
