Babatunji Wusu –

Tragic events transpired yesterday as it was discovered that Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, had been brutally murdered.

It was learned that the lecturer’s dead body was discovered in her flat by a few churchgoers who had dropped by because she hadn’t been to church.

Dr. Adefolalu was a lecturer at the FUT, Minna School of Life Sciences’ Department of Biochemistry. She was discovered dead in her home in the Gbaiko neighborhood of Bosso, Minna, Niger State.

More details concerning her demise showed that the lecturer was killed after being discovered with her throat cut in a pool of her own blood.

In addition, the knives that were used to stab her were discovered next to her.

Professor Gbolahan Bolarin, the head of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the institution, verified her death.

“It is odd that academics are now becoming endangered species,” Gbolahan remarked. At Keffi, our members are currently being abducted practically every week. We are unable to sleep soundly in our Minna homes once more. Before we are all victims of systemic failure, something needs to be done about the concerning level of insecurity.

In addition, Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Niger State Police, verified the event to LEADERSHIP, stating that “some friends of one Dr. Mrs. Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at FUT Minna, visited her residence in Gbaiko Area of Minna due to inability to get her phone.”

“Sadly, when the guests arrived at the house, they found her lying in a pool of blood with injuries all over her body.”

He continued by saying that two of the knives that were used to stab her had been found at the scene, and that an inquiry had been launched.

The police have taken her body’s remains to the mortuary.
