There was tension in Anyigba, Dekina local government area at the early hours of Saturday morning as thugs hauled stones and sticks at voters who were already on queue to exercise their fundamental rights in the Kogi state gubernatorial election.

It was said that a vehicle conveying some journalists on election duty, ran into the crossfire shattering their wind screen.

An editor of Kogi State Radio, Sunday B Omachi and the State correspondent of Leadership, Sam Egwu, however escaped without injuries.

Omachi said they were saved by the timely intervention of security personnel also on election duty in the area.

SARS personnel’s also on duty intercepted and arrested an unmarked Hiace bus conveying four suspected fake policemen in uniform.
It was gathered that there were sporadic gunshot on the eve of the election by suspected thugs.

However, security has been beefed up in the town with all entry points blocked.
