President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on being awarded the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, recognizing his dedication to peacebuilding and democracy.

In an official statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu commended Jonathan for his consistent advocacy for peace, describing it as a patriotic effort that has earned global recognition.

The President specifically praised Jonathan’s historic acceptance of the 2015 election results, when he peacefully handed over power to an opposition party, a move that bolstered Nigeria’s democratic credentials.

Tinubu also expressed gratitude to the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals committed to global peace and development.

Established in 2015, the Sunhak Peace Prize is awarded biennially to individuals and organizations making significant contributions in sustainable human development, conflict resolution, and environmental conservation.

Jonathan has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Founders’ Sunhak Peace Award, which will be presented in Seoul, South Korea, by the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation.
