The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is deliberately working to frustrate former presidential candidate Peter Obi from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Tanko made the claim during an interview on Arise Television, where he accused the federal government of allegedly interfering in opposition political parties in a bid to weaken Obi’s political structure and block his presidential ambition.

According to him, the alleged interference has followed Obi across different political platforms.

“The current government has become fully involved in all the political parties, attempting to prevent His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi from running for office,” Tanko said.

He claimed that similar tensions were experienced when Obi was in the Labour Party, and even after his reported move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that the pattern suggests a sustained effort to sideline him politically.

“When he was part of the Labour Party, it was the same situation. When he moved to the ADC, it was the same situation,” he added.

Tanko further argued that Obi’s political movement is not driven by instability, but by a desire to contribute to national development and strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

He said Obi remains committed to offering Nigerians an alternative political choice despite what he described as systematic exclusion from the political space.
