  • Action Against Fraud: FG targets fake degree holders in public service.
  • Restoring Integrity: TMV praises Tinubu’s anti-corruption efforts.
  • Demand for Quality: Group insists on rigorous academic standards.

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have expressed strong support for the federal government’s decision to dismiss civil servants in ministries, departments, and agencies who secured fake degrees from unlicensed private universities in the Benin Republic and Togo.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr. Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Mr. Shedrach Sunday, TMV described the move as consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption agenda.

“We are dismayed that many of these so-called universities lack proper licenses or accreditation from their host countries,” the group stated. “It is appalling that some Nigerians knowingly obtain fake academic qualifications to infiltrate the civil service, undermining the integrity of public institutions.”

TMV emphasized that authentic academic achievements should stem from rigorous academic processes and condemned the increasing trend of rushing to neighboring countries to obtain fraudulent degrees within six months to a year.

The group applauded the federal government’s bold action to weed out such individuals, describing it as a critical step in combating corruption and maintaining the quality of public service.
