Tinubu Meets Bala Mohammed Behind Closed Doors as Bauchi Security Crisis Escalates

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid rising security concerns in the North-East state.

The high-level engagement, which is taking place inside Aso Rock, comes as Bauchi grapples with fresh disturbances in parts of the state, particularly in Alkaleri Local Government Area where bandits have reportedly intensified their activities.

Sources within the Presidency confirmed that Governor Mohammed arrived at the Villa to formally brief the President on the deteriorating security situation and to seek urgent federal intervention. The governor is said to have presented detailed updates on the recurring attacks, stressing the need for swift and coordinated action to curb the threats and restore stability.

Bauchi State has witnessed pockets of unrest in recent weeks, with Alkaleri emerging as a flashpoint. The resurgence of banditry in the area has heightened fears among residents and triggered calls for stronger security reinforcements.

Speaking earlier to State House correspondents on political developments across the country, Governor Mohammed addressed the growing wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He asserted that politicians who chose to defect were exercising their constitutional right to freedom of association.

While acknowledging the shifting political landscape, the Bauchi governor firmly declared his decision to remain in the opposition PDP, distancing himself from the ongoing realignments ahead of future electoral contests.

The outcome of the Tinubu-Bala Mohammed meeting is keenly anticipated, particularly as security challenges continue to test federal and state collaboration in affected regions.
