President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday inaugurated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance during a brief ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.

Oyedele replaces Doris Anite-Uzoka, who has been reassigned to the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State. The redeployment marks her third ministerial role under the current administration.

The appointment followed Oyedele’s confirmation by the Nigerian Senate on March 11, 2026, barely 24 hours after President Tinubu submitted his name for screening.

Before his new role, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded efforts to reform and modernize Nigeria’s tax system as part of broader fiscal policy adjustments by the federal government.

His appointment is expected to strengthen ongoing fiscal reforms and support the administration’s drive toward improving revenue generation and economic stability.
