President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffi
rmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to ending terrorism, banditry, and other forms of insecurity across Nigeria, declaring that the persistent threat to lives and livelihoods remains a matter that keeps him and his team “sleepless at night.”
The President made this known on February 9, 2026, while declaring open the two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Addressing governors and key stakeholders at the conference, Tinubu acknowledged the ongoing security challenges facing parts of the country but expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome the menace through sustained collaboration between federal and state governments.
“We will overcome this unacceptable terrorism and banditry. I commend some of you, especially the Governors of Borno, Katsina, Kaduna, and many others for your efforts and resilience,” the President said.
Tinubu emphasized that security remains central to his administration’s agenda, noting that economic growth and national development cannot thrive without peace and stability. He urged governors to continue working closely with security agencies and the federal government to restore safety in affected communities.
The NEC conference, which brings together governors, federal officials, and policy stakeholders, is expected to deliberate on key economic and security issues affecting the nation.
