According to a statement by Crusoe Osagie, the media aide to the governor of Edo State, the Edo State Government has facilitated an engagement with the private sector to leverage opportunities guaranteed with the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in order to create an environment that is conducive to businesses flourishing.
Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration places a strong emphasis on encouraging private sector investment and positioning investors for dominance in Africa, according to Mr. Kelvin Uwaibi, managing director of ESIPO’s Ease of Doing Business Secretariat, who addressed attendees at the public-private dialogue, which was organized by ESIPO in collaboration with GIZ.
“Why are we so picky about market access? Additionally, we are getting ready for the African Continental Free Trade Area in our state. Ghana and Kenya have already begun trading. The Free Trade Area for the Continent of Africa is here to stay.
We are worried about the manufacturing industry as a state because of this. So that we can export Edo products to other countries, we want Edo State to remain competitive.
“To be completely honest, if we want to see any economy flourish, we need to look to the private sector. They must take the initiative in order to advance the economy. We must collaborate with the private sector to maintain the state’s economy if we are to do so. That is Edo State’s main objective.
GIZ is interested in helping Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in numerous areas, including access to credits and access to training to enhance the environment in which they function, according to Blessing Ajimoti, the state coordinator for GIZ-SEDEN in Edo State.
