Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tochi has urged ex-housemates struggling after the reality show to put aside their celebrity status and focus on building sustainable careers.
Tochi gave the advice while addressing former contestants who are finding life difficult after leaving the popular reality television programme.
In a post, he warned ex-housemates against relying on the fame they gained from BBNaija. Instead, he encouraged them to work hard and create new opportunities for themselves.
“If you’re a Bbnaija ex-housemate and you’re going through a rough time, listen,” Tochi wrote. He then urged them to abandon what he described as the idea of being a celebrity and “come out and hustle”.
Tochi also used a strong warning to drive home his point. He said anyone who continued to depend on celebrity status could face even greater difficulties.
The former housemate argued that appearing on BBNaija does not guarantee long-term success. Therefore, he advised contestants to treat the reality show as an opportunity rather than a permanent career.
Tochi said he no longer defines himself by his time on the programme. Instead, he now identifies himself as a businessman.
His comments highlight a challenge many reality television stars face after leaving the spotlight. While BBNaija can provide fame, publicity and access to new opportunities, contestants must still build careers that can survive after the attention fades.
For Tochi, that means moving beyond the identity of a former housemate and concentrating on business and personal growth.
His message is simple: fame may open a door, but hard work is needed to stay in the room.
