Tony Okocha, the Factional Acting Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, reiterated on Thursday that Martin Amaewhule and his allies have not defected to the party.
In a statement, Okocha described their actions as mere political theatrics, clarifying that despite his efforts to bring them into the APC, none of them has officially joined.
“There are rumors that Wike and 27 lawmakers, currently clashing with Governor Fubara, have defected to the APC,” Okocha stated. “Let me be clear—while I want them to join us, none has actually made the move. I would know if they had. What they did was just political posturing.”
He further explained that to officially join the party, they would need to go to their respective wards, register, and obtain membership cards, a step none of them has taken.
