Nollywood artists and moviegoers are excited to see who will win at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) presentation on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Since the distinguished award ceremony began on March 9, 2013, in Lagos, Nigeria, the AMVCAs have become one of the most captivating events for viewers in more than 50 nations.

In this post, we showcase the Nigerian entertainers with the most AMVCA awards.

1. Funke Akindele (6 wins): The Nollywood performer and film producer stands out with six AMVCA wins, displaying her versatility in comedy and drama.

Funke Akindele won Best Actress (Comedy) in 2014 for her role in ‘The Return of Sheri Koko’. She replicated her success in 2016. The next year, Akindele received two AMVCAs: one for her hit show ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ and another for Best Actress in a Comedy Movie or TV Series. In 2020, she received Best Actress in a Comedy for ‘Moms At War’. She was also named Best Actress in a Comedy for ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ in 2022.

2. Rita Dominic (3 wins): The seasoned actress, who has received numerous awards in the film business over the years, won an AMVCA for her work in “The Meeting,” a New Era Award in 2014, and Best Actress in Comedy in 2015. She also won Best Actress in a Drama/TV Series in 2017 for the film “76.”

3. Osas Ighodaro (3 wins): In 2022, the Nollywood actress won ‘Best Actress in a Movie/Drama Series’ for her amazing performance in Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story. She also won the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award that same year. In 2023, she earned the AMVCA’s ‘Best Actress in a Movie/Drama’ award for her portrayal in ‘Man of God’.

4. Falz (2 wins): Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, commonly known as Falz, is a multi-talented musician who has achieved success in both music and movies. He has won two AMVCAs: the first in 2016 for his work in the TV drama series “Jenifa’s Diary,” and the second in 2018 for Best Supporting Actor in “New Money”.

5. Broda Shaggi (2 wins): Nigerian comedian Samuel Perry, also known as Broda Shaggi, has won the AMVCA Best Actor in a Comedy, Movie award twice for his roles in “Dwindle” (Best Actor in a Comedy, 2022) and Inside Life (Best Actor in a Comedy Drama, 2023).

6. Adesua Etomi (2 wins): Adesua Etomi has won two AMVCAs. She earned ‘Best Actress’ in 2016 for her outstanding performance in ‘Falling’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in 2019 for her work in ‘The King of Boys’.

7. Odunlade Adekola (2 wins): The actor, well-known in Yoruba indigenous films, has continuously provided remarkable performances, winning Best Actor in a Comedy for “A Million Baby” in 2018 and Best Supporting Actor for “Jankariwo” in 2022.

8. Sambasa Nzeribe (2 wins): He won the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award for ‘Soldier’s Story’ in 2016 and was named the AMVCA’s ‘Best Actor’ in 2017.
