Following the death of the Olowo of Owo, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi in the early hours of Wednesday, the Owo community will on Thursday (today) officially announce the passage of the revered and first-class monarch.
Recall that PREMIER NEWS had reported the passing of the king who joined his ancestors at the age of 77.
During a visit by our correspondent to the ancient town, it was observed that the king’s demise was a surprise to many as residents gathered in groups still discussing the death of their monarch, who was a law lecturer.
With general calmness in the town, one of the palace elders disclosed that the demise of the king would be pronounced any moment from now.
He also added that traditional rites had commenced for the departed traditional ruler.
“All the necessary rites have begun. The branches of the tree around the market would be cut off.
“The three markets in the town which are usually opened for businesses on the same day will be allowed to operate simultaneously on a fixed date.”
