New information has come to light regarding the abduction and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Friday Abah and Eloho Okah, who went missing on June 20.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed that the students were kidnapped by armed criminals and later killed. Okah was also subjected to an assault before her death. The investigation commenced after a formal complaint by the victims’ family on June 24.

Police tracking led to Lagos, where a suspect was found with a stolen phone belonging to one of the students. This led to further arrests, including Ojo Michael and the alleged mastermind, Oladele Femi, who is reportedly the landlord of one victim. Another accomplice remains at large. The victims’ vehicle was also recovered.

During captivity, unauthorized withdrawals were made from one victim’s bank account. Police reports state that Okah identified one of the kidnappers, leading to the tragic execution of both students to avoid exposure. Their bodies were discovered at different locations in the region.

Femi has admitted to organizing the crime. Okah’s body was recovered and sent for autopsy, while efforts continue to locate Abah’s remains.

Commissioner Lawal described the case as a heartbreaking example of planned violence and betrayal, assuring the public that justice will be served.

AAUA Student Union President, Akeem Ologbon, called the incident devastating but praised the swift response of the union in collaborating with security agencies to assist in the search and investigation.

This tragic event highlights the urgent need for enhanced security and support systems to protect students and communities from similar crimes.
