Adegboyega Oyetola, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been proclaimed the validly elected governor of Osun State following the July 16 governorship election by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which is based in Osogbo, the State capital.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was instructed to remove the Certificate of Return (CoR) it had previously given to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and instead give it to Oyetola.

According to the majority ruling, which was read by the Tribunal’s chairman, Justice Tertse Kume, Oyetola received the majority of valid votes in the election—314,931—as opposed to Adeleke’s 219,666.
