Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed a former hybrid Boko Haram commander, Abdullahi Mafa, during a fierce ambush operation in the Madagali axis of Zamfara State.

Security sources confirmed that the troops, working in close coordination with local vigilantes and hunters, engaged suspected Boko Haram fighters along the Visik River line on Thursday, triggering a gun battle that ended with the neutralisation of the insurgent commander.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed that the operation formed part of intensified offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist cells operating within the Madagali corridor.

In a separate but related operation, troops stormed Madagali Motor Park and arrested a suspected Boko Haram collaborator identified as Dauda Usman Gubula. The suspect is believed to be a drone and logistics supplier for the terrorist group.

Officials said security forces recovered two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks from the suspect during the raid, raising fresh concerns about the growing deployment of surveillance technology by insurgents.

The arrested suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.

Military authorities reaffirmed that operations under Operation HADIN KAI would intensify across flashpoints to cripple Boko Haram networks, disrupt supply chains, and restore lasting security in affected communities.
