Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully neutralised three suspected bandits during an intelligence-led offensive in Wase Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
According to Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer of OPSH, the operation was launched following a credible intelligence tip about criminal activities in the area.
“Yesterday, troops of OPSH, acting on credible intelligence, conducted offensive operations at a criminal hideout along the fringes of Pinau community in Wase LGA,” the statement read.
During the mission, the troops encountered the armed criminals along the Pinau-Gimbi road, a location reportedly plagued by frequent attacks. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, during which the soldiers overpowered the bandits with superior firepower, killing three suspects.
“While others fled with gunshot wounds, the troops searched the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle and one AK-47 magazine,” Maj. Zhakom added.
The operation marks a significant stride in OPSH’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry and insecurity in Plateau and its surrounding regions.
Zhakom confirmed that a follow-up operation is currently underway to track and apprehend the fleeing criminals.
The military urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful intelligence to security agencies as efforts to restore lasting peace in Plateau State continue.
