Turkish Airlines has been honoured with the “Expatriate Airline of the Year” award at the 2025 edition of The Expatriate Business Awards (TEBA), in recognition of its exceptional contribution to Nigeria’s business, travel, and economic landscape.
The award ceremony, which was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together a distinguished audience comprising diplomats, business executives, expatriates, and industry stakeholders.
The TEBA Awards, known for celebrating outstanding foreign individuals and organisations whose presence and operations continue to drive Nigeria’s development and global integration, saw Turkish Airlines emerge winner in one of the most competitive categories. The airline edged out globally recognised carriers such as Air France, Delta Air Lines, Qatar Airways, and Emirates to clinch the title.
According to the organisers, Turkish Airlines was selected for the award based on its strong commitment to customer satisfaction, extensive global route network, consistent on-time performance, and reliability. The airline was also praised for playing a vital role in facilitating travel and business for Nigeria’s expatriate community, especially in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the General Manager of Turkish Airlines Nigeria, Mr Lokman Balkan, described the recognition as a reflection of the airline’s long-standing dedication to serving Nigeria.
“This recognition is a testament to our long-standing commitment to Nigeria and its people,” Balkan said. “We are proud to be more than an airline we are partners in progress, innovation, and global integration for Nigeria. Turkish Airlines currently operates daily flights from Lagos and Abuja to multiple destinations across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, making it a critical bridge between Nigeria and the rest of the world.
The airline’s operations have enabled increased trade and investment, strengthened tourism and cultural exchange, and enhanced connectivity for both businesses and individuals. Industry observers have noted the airline’s significant role in supporting Nigeria’s global ambitions, especially in the areas of commerce, diaspora engagement, and international partnerships.
